Everything But the Crystal Goblet
2022

Everything But the Crystal Goblet is a reading reader inspired by The Crystal Goblet by Beatrice Warde, serving as a documentation that challenges Warde’s design theory. In her short essay, Warde states how typography should function as a vessel that contains the text, rather than outshining it. In disagreement, this reading reader is born.
The reader can be divided in two parts: the first part being a square, story-book style publication that consisted of the complete texts from The Crystal Goblet, and the second part being A5-sized spreads filled with articles that critique The Crystal Goblet lifestyle.
The entire booklet functions as an antithetical statement piece that counter the principles of The Crystal Goblet, as the first part is printed with the texts on vellum, sandwiched between design elements that permeate the text.
